Triple Threat Arts Program

OKM’s signature performing arts program trains students in acting, vocals, and dance. The company stages a full Broadway musical every year — in 2025, they performed the BC premiere of Hadestown: Teen Edition. One of the most respected high school arts programs in the province.

Sports Academies

OKM offers four dedicated sports academies: Soccer, Hockey, Swimming, and a new Lifeguarding Academy launched in 2025 open to Grade 9 students. All are AAAA-rated programs competing at the highest level of BC high school sport.

Concert Band & Music

The OKM band program is among the strongest in the Okanagan. Grade 9 students travel to Whistler annually; senior band students take international trips every three years — including performances at venues like the Roman Colosseum.

French Immersion

Since fall 2022, OKM has offered a full French Immersion program at the secondary level, extending the FI pathway for students who began in elementary. One of the few secondary FI programs in the Kelowna area.

How School Catchments Work in Upper Mission

Understanding catchment boundaries is one of the most practical parts of buying a home in this area.

Your home address determines your school. SD23 assigns students to schools based on designated catchment zones — not choice. For Upper Mission and Kettle Valley, the English pathway runs: Chute Lake Elementary → Canyon Falls Middle → OKM. Cross-boundary transfers are only approved if space is available, and popular schools like OKM are frequently at capacity. If school access is a priority in your home search, confirm catchment boundaries before you buy.

SD23 maintains an interactive catchment map where you can enter any address and confirm the designated elementary, middle, and secondary school. Visit sd23.bc.ca/catchment to look up any address in Upper Mission or Kettle Valley.
